While ‘hustling hard to make boss moves’ is lifted up as the goal, remember this truth: you are enough. You don’t have to do more or be more. You are enough (full stop). Understanding this is the key to balancing career ambition with reality.
Though our culture rewards whatever is newer, bigger, or better… Sometimes it’s helpful to stop and take inventory of what it is. Thinking about your professional accomplishments and career goals in the context of social media can make us lose sight of what’s good in our life and what’s actually going well.
It’s tempting to scroll and feel as though you’re not doing enough to “keep up” (read: you need another certification, another degree, another job, etc.). It’s alluring to gravitate towards that which glitters… But don’t forget your own sparkle in process.
So, in honor of Mental Health Awareness month, I want to share the words of Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex. She says, “You are enough just as you are.” I love this quote because it’s a reminder that your professional achievements don’t define you. You can lean into them… But any future accomplishments are just an added bonus to who you are.🌟
